The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot vacuum will clean and vacuum your floors without having to be involved. It also leaves the floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end features (such as dirt detector) are both positives.
Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.
Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and can be used while you're at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes This robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. best budget robot vacuum boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some extra cost it's a capable two-in-one that should delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.
If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It features an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
